You guys know how much I love Thread Faction Studio patterns and the Girls Tank and Pants Set just released doesn’t disappoint.ย Along with the pattern release Liz has also released a FREE YouTube Learn to Sew Knits miniseries and an additional video specifically detailing the steps of the #123 Girls Tank and Pants Set.
Let’s talk about this fantastic Tank and Pants Set, starting with the tank.ย This is pretty much the perfect basic tank for girls.ย It would be great as an undershirt, but also has enough coverage to wear as a summer staple tank.ย I see MANY more of these in our future.
The Pants are a comfortable fit with elastic at the waist and bands at the legs.ย The shape is modest and could be used as underwear, as play pants for under a skirt, or (most likely how my girl will use them) as part of a great lounging around the house play set.
Both were sewn in size 7 and the fit is just right.ย I’m thrilled that the pattern goes up to size 10 because we’ll definitely use this pattern many more times.ย I had tanks with this exact shape as a kid and it just screams summer to me so I can’t wait to stitch up a few next year!
If you have any worries about working with knit fabric (like this soft white jersey my girl and I used as a base for Tie-Dyeing last week from Wolf and Rabbit), Liz has you covered.ย She has started a YouTube channel for Thread Faction and will be posting various Thread Faction Sewn episodes.ย In her first episode of Thread Faction Sewn she highlights the Girls Tank and Pants Set which is also full of tips and has me eagerly anticipating future episodes!ย Also just released is a FREE Learn to Sew Knits miniseriesย which is fantastic.ย There are five mini episodes and each covers a specific skill – seams, bands, hems, bindings, and elastic – to get you up and running with knit sewing.ย There’s a lot of great beginner info packed into those mini episodes, but even if you’re familiar with knits you have to check them out cause Liz has some fun tips and is hilarious.
