Sew Americana 2018 Tour

It’s time for another super fun Sew Americana Tour!  Wild + Wanderful is sponsoring another Americana themed tour and you can read about all the details in her post on the tour schedule listed at the end of this post, but first check out what I made for this year’s Sew Americana 2018 outfit.

This is one of my favorite blog tours and it’s so fun choosing the stars and stripes themed pieces every year.  Sly Fox Fabrics generously sent some of her lovely fabrics and the literal stars and stripes were a must have for the look I was planning.  It’s a soft Cotton/Spandex blend with a great stretch and recovery called Americana.  You can find this fabric in her shop here (I’m not an affiliate, but she sent these fabrics for free as a part of the tour).

The cotton/spandex was perfect for the swim cover up I was planning for Bean.  I’ve made a few of these Raglan Swim CoverUps and I really adore this one made in a light-weight fabric.  I plan to eventually turn this into a full pattern for sale, but between pregnancy and my girl home for the summer (plus a fun fall line that I’m spending my free time on), I’m doubtful that it’ll be ready any time soon.

For the shoulder accents I used a lacey fabric I’ve had in my stash for ages and I love how it looks like a quilt pattern.  It gives the whole look even more of an Americana feel.

And of course it wouldn’t be summer without a bunch of new swimsuits for Bean.  This two piece in swim fabric from Sly Fox is just perfect for fourth of July celebrations, but subtle enough for everyday wear.  I used view E of the Sash Swimsuit for the top, with no alterations in size 8.  Size EIGHT you guys!!  She has grown so much this spring!

The bottoms are my FREE Classic Maillot Swimskirt pattern (find it here) in size 8 and my favorite thing about them is the shorty skirt that shows just a tiny bit of the bottoms underneath.  The Sash Swimsuit is going to be on sale along with everything else in the shop for 4th of July next week, but in honor of the Sew Americana Tour, you can grab it early (NOW!) with the coupon code 4TH2018 for 25% off!!
