After being on hold for nearly nine months, the Classic Maillot Sleeve Add-On is finally available to download. When Ula from Lulu and Celeste and Deb from Sprouting JubeJube mentioned a Swimsuit Edition Blog Tour, I dug out the sleeve add-on, polished it up, and got it ready to release!
This add-on was fully tested at the end of the summer last year and I had every intention of releasing it, but then life got in the way and I was completely distracted and released three or four complete patterns since then. Since I adore how the Classic Maillot looks with either the long or the short sleeves, I knew I needed to get this add-on out there for people to use. The fully illustrated add-on is not a stand alone pattern like the free Classic Maillot SwimSkirt, which means this supplement needs to have the pattern pieces and tutorial to the Classic Maillot PDF Pattern to be complete. However it went through the tester ringer just like all of the patterns in the DbCA shop.
The new sleeves can be used on any view of the Classic Maillot pattern to make even more great swimsuits, tankinis, rash guards, and leotards.
Last Halloween my girl wanted to be Ariel so I used the long sleeves to make a costume that would hold up in the frigid October weather. I made the maillot a little bit big at the time since I was hoping she’d be able to wear it this summer as well.
Here’s the long sleeved maillot without the tail portion. You can see it’s a little bit too big for her on top, but she was madly in love with it anyway!
Now here is the same maillot on her today and it’s still well-loved. She was painting pumpkins last year with non washable paint so you’ll have to excuse the paint stains on it, hehe.
Along with the short and long sleeves, I’ve added a band for the back in this add-on. The weight of the sleeves wants to pull the straps off the shoulders and this simple back strap helps keep everything in place.
I hope you’ll follow along with the rest of this great tour! Here’s a link to a bunch of fun giveaways for the tour, including a free pattern of choice from DbCA.
