One Thimble Issue 14 Release – A Full E-Zine Review

One Thimble Issue 14 (*affiliate link) releases this week (in just a few hours) and I’m thrilled to review this e-zine packed with 10 fantastic patterns and 27 interesting stories/articles.  Today I’ll share a bit about my first two issue 14 sews. This post contains affiliate links, but all opinions are mine.

One Thimble Issue 14 Review of the e-zine Thyme Vest and Trillium Tunic main The very first thing I had to make from this issue was the Thyme Vest (*affiliate link) by Paisley Roots.  I’m a big fan of Karly’s work and this vest pattern is top notch!

One Thimble Issue 14 Review of the e-zine Thyme Vest I was planning to make an army green vest because every on-trend girl needs a good army green piece in her wardrobe, but then I saw the fabulous make by Angie and the one in One Thimble and thought I should showcase a different color.  The fabric I used is more dusty pink than it’s coming through in the pics, but it’s really so good.  I added pocket flaps to all four pockets to add a little more visual interest, but Karly is working on an add-on and will have a blog post about it up on Paisley Roots soon!

One Thimble Issue 14 Review of the e-zine Thyme Vest front I made view B of the vest as I wanted to have the snaps show on the outside.  With a solid color I think it helps break it up.  I made a straight size 6 which fits great.

One Thimble Issue 14 Review of the e-zine Thyme Vest back The back is stunning as well.  And that hood?  It’s designed the way I prefer with a center panel.  It always has a much nicer fit with a center panel don’t you think?

One Thimble Issue 14 Review of the e-zine Thyme Vest zipper Underneath the front snap flap there’s a separating zipper to make closing it up a breeze for little hands.

One Thimble Issue 14 Review of the e-zine Thyme Vest side view But wearing it open is probably my favorite style choice.  Also, here’s a sneak peek at one of my new pattern designs in the works!

One Thimble Issue 14 Review of the e-zine Trillium Tunic main For underneath the vest I sewed up a Trillium Tunic (*affiliate link).  Since Bean’s chest is a little small and I knew the tunic would be flowy around the hips, I sewed a size 5 to get the best fit.  There’s a maxi dress view which I definitely need to make, but this tunic with 3/4 rouched sleeves is really sweet.

One Thimble Issue 14 Review of the e-zine Trillium Tunic back And the back has great coverage so it’s a nice option for leggings.  Made with quilting cottons, this pattern will be used a bunch I can already tell!

One Thimble Issue 14 Review of the e-zine Thyme Vest and Trillium Tunic There are many more things to tell you about One Thimble Issue 14 (*affiliate link), but you should hurry now to purchase this e-zine as the Early Bird Bonus ends this weekend.  The pricing is in Australian Dollars so when you see the cover price remember that the American Dollar cost is much lower and it’s a STEAL.  I’ll be back soon with more to share from this issue.  In the meantime, see what other bloggers are saying on the official One Thimble e-Zine Issue 14 tour below:

I'm really excited about this one! The Verdant Wi I'm really excited about this one! The Verdant Windbreaker is ready for testing! This 90's-esque 1/4 zip windbreaker has options for a fully lined or basic unlined pullover. Views A and B have three zippered pockets, including the center pocket which can work as a stuff sack for the windbreaker like all the cool kids had back in the 1900s 😆 Views C and D are more of a pullover sweatshirt/fleece style without the extra bells and whistles, but all of the vibes.
My outerwear is sized 12m to 16 years and the size chart is in the form below.
Testing will begin on Monday, the 11th of September and will end on Saturday, the 23rd of September, with a fit test (muslin or just the lining) due by Saturday, the 16th of September.

She asked for plain black this year, so we compromised with some of the black and white crosshatch I used for the lining sprinkled around the outside. 😍😍

The black is Cuddle C3 minky from Shannon Fabrics and it’s so soft. I used sf101 interfacing to keep the pieces from stretching out too much with wear. There’s some Decovil light on the main panels for structure too.

The crosshatch is sailcloth canvas that I had in my stash from Little Cocalico and it’s such a great fabric for bag linings.

Pattern is the Little Lizard Kind Vada backpack, which is what I used last year and she specifically requested it for this year too.
