Knock It Off – A Raglan Party Dress MashUp Knock-Off

Time for another Raglan Party Dress MashUp!  I’ve had this Knock-Off MashUp in my head since last fall and it almost became Bean’s Christmas Dress, but with the Knock It Off tour hosted by Sprouting JubeJube and Lulu & Celeste on the horizon I held back and made a springy version instead.

Knock It Off Raglan Party Dress MashUp

This MashUp was inspired by the Janie and Jack dress above which appears to be no longer available.  I used a fun bright colored plaid organza for the pleated skirt instead of black and white since this dress will be worn during the warmer months and I thought a little more color would be fun.

Knock It Off Raglan Party Dress MashUp It’s been so rainy here this week and getting a break in the drops for pictures was tough, but the dress shines through even still.  The knit fabric for the bodice is stretchier than I would like for a structured bodice, but the color matched so nicely that I went for it anyway.  I’m really happy I did cause that pinky purple color works great against the organza.

Knock It Off Raglan Party Dress MashUp I’m not sure why the front of the skirt looks like the plaids don’t line up properly, because I assure you in real life they do haha.  I used the Raglan Party Dress view C skirt in this fun organza from JoAnn and a black lining fabric for the underskirt.

Knock It Off Raglan Party Dress MashUp For the bodice I used my soon-to-be-released Crossover Dress basic sleeveless view to make a lined knit bodice.  It was sewn together as if the knit pieces were the Raglan Party Dress pieces, including an invisible zip up the back.  I used some interfacing at the back zipper, but I wish now that I hadn’t since it wants to make the knit fabric pucker a bit when it stretches there.  Next time I’d use a true knit interfacing for that section.  The bows were hand stitched to the bodice on the front in the same placement as the Janie and Jack dress, but I added an additional bow to the back neckline to straddle the invisible zip and it might be my absolute favorite part of the dress.

Knock It Off Raglan Party Dress MashUp This girl loves her new dress and says the knit bodice is super soft and comfy.  She had a fun time trying to get pics out in the rainy/soggy weather and hammed it up pretty good.

Knock It Off Raglan Party Dress MashUp This is what she was doing in most of the pics though.  Apparently she’s all about the big eye look these days haha.  Keep your eyes peeled for the Crossover Dress release next week, including a BIG announcement about it in the newsletter that you won’t want to miss.  And in the meantime, check out the other AMAZING knock-offs on the tour:

I've always loved making. At an early age I started cross stitching and sewing and I taught myself to knit and crochet during college. When our seven year old daughter Bean was born I was filled with all sorts of inspiration, so now I find ways to manage my crafty time and treasure those moments. Though sewing is what I'm most passionate about these days, there's something about the portability of yarn crafts and embroidery that keeps drawing me back in.
