Project Night & Day Verdant Windbreaker

Project Smooth Sorbet – a sneak peek

It’s time for another Project Run & Play collaboration and this Project Smooth Sorbet collection of patterns is going to blow you away! Today I’m sharing some sneak peeks of everything I’ve sewn from the collection (so far!) and it’s all so good.

Project Smooth Sorbet sneak peek

Project Smooth Sorbet includes 10 patterns (plus one pattern extension) which make a great capsule collection. I’ve sewn six of them so far and have three more cut out and ready to sew up this weekend. Here are the ones I’ve sewn so far: Bacca Bootcuts (my pattern so I sewed a bunch of these), Fetta and Frutta purses (so fun!) by Kari, Fragola (I’ve sewn three!) by Susana, Parfait Polo (this one is great) by Audrey, and the Sorbetto Swimsuit (also my pattern so I’ve sewn many).

The lookbook for the collection comes out next week, but for now I’ll share the flat lays of what I’ve added to the mix. Here is a Fragola in this lovely green broadcloth sent from Cali Fabrics (some of these fabrics were sponsored to be featured in the lookbook, but I can promise you they’re all sooooo good and all opinions are mine). I sewed size 9 for Bean and it’s a really lovely fit. She wore it to school (the whole outfit) the next day, so you know that’s a win. The broadcloth is lightweight and has a little bit of stretch, which makes it perfect for a fitted button-up shirt, but I love it in the fragola.

The pants are the Bacca Bootcuts in a stretch twill from Mimi Fabrics (also sponsored) that is so soft on the outside. I don’t recall the description mentioning it, but it’s almost like a brushed fabric on the outside and Bean LOVES how soft it feels. It’s light-weight and has just enough stretch for the pattern, which made it perfect for a pair of jeans as we go into summer here in MD. When she wanted to wear them to school today I didn’t balk, even though it’ll probably get up to the 80’s before she goes out to recess. This fabric feels like it’ll breathe well and has a cool crisp feel to it, so I’m sure it’ll work well on a hot day. I sewed size 11 for Bean since she’s stretching the very limits of size 10 right now (as evidenced in the listing pics – these are meant to be bootcuts and they’re VERY short and snug in the pics of the size 10 black ones. Guys, I made those less than a month ago and she grew SO MUCH before I got a chance to take the “final” pics hehe), but the 11 legs are a bit wide on her yet. They should be more snug through the thighs like the size 10s, but she needed the extra height and I was worried about how much she might grow this summer before she gets a chance to wear them in cooler weather. Kids, man…

And finally in this grouping, I sewed the Frutta purse in some fun fabrics which brought the strawberry theme I was looking for together. The purse is designed to look like a pineapple, but I couldn’t help but think of a strawberry as well so I went with it. This came together great and I love the idea of a fun purse accessory. I have a Fetta I’ve sewn as well, but those pics aren’t quite ready yet, so I’ll be saving those for the lookbook.

Here’s another Bacca Bootcuts and Fragola combo. Aren’t they just so good together?? This is a set for Kitty and the Fragola is size 18m in a poplin from Wolf & Rabbit, which is the perfect weight for this sweet top. This fabric was from my stash, but I can’t recommend W&R poplin enough!

The Baccas are the shorts view in this great stretch twill from Cali Fabrics, which was also in my own stash. It’s a great, sturdy twill, with lots of stretch so it was fantastic for Bacca. The cheetah print looks so good with the coral topstitching (one of my favorite details of the Bacca Bootcuts), which matches the top. These are sized 12m at the waist and legs, but size 3t at the hip to accommodate Kitty’s giant cloth diaper.

Well these Baccas may look familiar, but though they use the same cheetah fabric, these are size 10 for Bean. This Parfait Polo is sewn in size 10 as well and it is a great fit on her. The fabric is Wolf & Rabbit’s peach solid organic cotton lycra. This was also from my stash, but W&R solids are my absolute favorites. One of my favorite Parfait Polo details is the split hem, which gives it a great fit worn tucked in or loose. Those of you who follow me on Instagram would have seen this outfit for Bean’s birthday party cause she chose to wear it that night.

Last – but not least – is the Sorbetto Swimsuit which is my absolute fav right now. Remember this pattern from spring 2020?? I finally decided to release it with this collection! I can’t wait to show you the sweet photoshoot I took of Bean and her friend wearing these super cute fruity suits. The melons and bananas were sponsored by Cali Fabrics and they look sooooo good in person. We love how fun these fruit prints are and they worked great for that Smooth Sorbet theme!

All of the Project Smooth Sorbet patterns are on sale for 20% off right now so grab them before the price goes up! If you buy the whole collection it’s offered at 30% off, which is the absolute best deal. I have a few more things to share with you from the collection, but I hope you enjoyed these sneaks.
