The Paneled Sunsuit is a comfortable, yet stylish romper pattern that comes with multiple options for customizing the perfect jumpsuit, sunsuit, jumper, or maxi dress for your girl in sizes newborn to 12. With no bodice closures to worry about and elastic under the ruffled straps, it’s easy getting it on and off for the older girls. Add in a snap panel at the crotch for the younger, diaper-wearing child, and there’s no fumbling around at diaper changes either.
The bodice front and back are both made up of two panels with optional flat piping pieces to accent the panels. Alternatively, the top front bodice is the perfect place to add some lace/trim you’ve been saving or the lining pieces can be used in place of the panels for a solid front or back bodice look.
There are four bottoms options: sunsuit, jumpsuit, maxi skirt, and jumper. All of the bottoms views have an optional pocket with the additional option of a faux piping look to accent the pocket curve.
The Paneled Sunsuit bodice and bottoms options can also be made as separates. The tutorial contains full instructions for how to sew not just the four main views (A, B, C, D), but the tank (both hemmed or with elastic at the waist), trousers, shorts, maxi skirt, and above the knee skirt views as well. With all these options the Paneled Sunsuit pattern will easily take your girl through the warm spring and summer months and beyond.
The pattern is designed to use with many types of fabrics including wovens such as chambray, linen, light-weight cotton, double gauze, challis, and denim, and sturdy knits such as ponte de roma.
